Coming back to Cyprus after nine years there were a few things that I could not get my head round:
1) how many corner shops (kiosks) there are and if it is possible for all of them to be making profit;
2) the number of bakeries that exist, and the fact that most of them are attached to one another; and finally
3) the fact that there is probably one furniture shop per 5 houses, most of them selling a similar type of furniture.
We still have not resolved the kiosk/bakery mystery but fortunately we have managed to discover one furniture shop that, not only managed to differentiate itself, but also has achieved the task of filling a gap in a saturated market.
Vanilla, situated in the centre of Nicosia, is a unique and distinctive furniture shop, selling products with a retro look from all over the world.
