Capo Bay hotel (Protaras beach street (off Protaras ave), 23831101, Protaras, AMMOCHOSTOS (FAMAGUSTA)
If you were wondering where the old Guru Day Spa is, wonder no more. It has been replaced by Koi. Koi is a brand new Japanese restaurant in the grounds of the Capo Bay hotel, open all day for coffee, fresh juices, nibbles and a wide selection of Japanese food.
Its location is fantastic as it is only a 30 seconds walk from Fig tree bay, 1 minute away from the main street and 10 seconds away from the main hotel facilities. What I liked is that, if the sun beds are all taken one can spend their day there, either on the bin bags on the deck or on the sofas inside the restaurant, away from the crowd and the noise. Whether or not one is looking for a morning coffee, freshly squeezed juices or granitas, cocktails or beers it doesn’t matter as Koi offers everything. The prices of both the drinks and the food are quite elevated at 4.50€ for a frappe, more than 25€ per bottle for Cyprus wine and around 8€ for cocktails but apparently peace and quiet come at a price! A must-try if you are a cocktail fan is the watermelon martini.
The sushi is not bad but definitely not exceptional. In any event, the choice is wide, although I would personally be extra cautious with raw fish as the summer gets hotter. Nevertheless, they also serve Italian platters (even though at 26€ no less!), burgers and a smaller selection of hot dishes. All in all I love the location and the space for spending a more quiet day right by the beach rather than having to worry about going early to get a sun bed.
