One of the few tasteful retreats in the mountains (that we know of at least), together with Apokryfo and Library. The hotel is made of 4 houses that can host up to 8 persons each and have their own courtyards and balconies, fantastic for large groups. There are also 13 individual suites and rooms for families or couples. Highlight of the hotel is of course, the spa.
We tried the restaurant for a Sunday lunch (after pre-booking two days in advance) and remained quite satisfied. We ordered a few traditional Cypriot dishes to share, including some Cyprus sausages, “koupepia” (stuffed vineleaves) that were particularly good, as well as more creative dishes like halloumi with fig marmalade, which was decent. For main courses we shared “keftedes” (fried meatballs), a porkchop and mousakka (the best out of all three).
Even though we really liked the food it was not to die for, which was the opposite case for the desserts as our chocolate lava cake and the “anaropitta” were extremely good.
The atmosphere is quite pleasant being traditional even though significantly more proper than “hard core” tavernas. What is truly fantastic is the location, being on top of the river on the side of the hill. We would probably return just for the experience of sitting outside.
What we would also like to see is a wine list including foreign wines as well, (at least Greek), as we think a hotel of such caliber (and prices) should offer more than Cyprus wines. Nevertheless the overall lunch was quite good.
