Housed in an old house with a lovely internal courtyard in the old city of Nicosia. One of the best, (if not the best), tavernas in the capital that combines a traditional atmosphere, relatively well-priced food as well as a good choice of local and international wine. No wonder every host takes their guests to Aigaio (for both business or pleasure).
The internal courtyard, especially on a Thursday where they have live Greek music is fantastic, whereas the food is very good because it combines quality with tradition. We specifically like the “souvlakia” (kebab), papoutsakia (cooked aubergines with béchamel and minced meat) and the traditional ravioli.

After a more recent visit I would unfortunately say it is not the same as it used to be both food-wise and popularity. It is still well above average but I now am less confident calling it the best taverna in Nicosia.
