Bakery reviews are not so common for Cypriot and Proud but Kalopesas managed to change that. Pioneer, unique and addictive can only begin to describe this fantastic confectionery/bakery in Agios Dometios.
I heard about it during the “tsoureki” research around Easter and I remember a proud Cypriot friend saying it might be slightly more pricey than the rest but everything compensates for it, from the packaging, to the modernised traditional delights (needless to say Kalopesas was the winner of the research).
Apart from a large selection of cookies and Italian biscuits (cantucci style), one can find freshly baked savory pies, ice cream, as well as a long list of sweets and cakes, fortunately also sold by the piece. Must-try is their famous “tahinopitta”. Forget the traditional round pie and welcome the new tahinopitta that looks like a cake and tastes like heaven. Their ice cream is also very good with very good milk chocolate and pistacchio flavours. They do not offer proper catering services but do custom-made cakes.
Unfortunately there is only one, but with the success that they are having I would not be surprised if more of them open. In any case, wherever you live it is worth the drive!
