After having been to Fat Fish in Limassol a few years ago, I thought why don’t they have this in Protaras or Ayia Napa where the beach is nicer? Why do I always have to have a sandwich and cannot enjoy good seafood by the beach? Admittedly, Fisherman’s Hut brings me quite close to that desire.
It is part of Grecian Bay hotel and right on the beach below it. The location is truly unique as it is surrounded by trees but still on the beach. As the name suggests it is a seafood tavern, even though one can order a few more different dishes.
The salad is served on a buffet so one can help himself with a traditional village salad, dips and a very good potato salad and an excellent “xidato oktapodi” (octopus in vinegar). We ordered the usual suspects, including fried calamari which was very good (and better than the grilled one), fried red mullet, which was also quite fresh and tasty and grilled shrimp, which the rest of the group enjoyed but, as I am not a fan, I couldn’t express an objective opinion. We also shared a big sea bream which was excellent. If I were to return, I would probably go for the calamari and the big fish that was more than enough, rather than satisfy my appetite with the rest of the starters.
All in all, location-wise it is definitely one of the best, food is quite good, and, although the price is high it is expected given that it is in a luxury hotel in a perfect location. Return? Yes.
