I have taken a break from writing about agrotourism as during the summer I rather spend my time at the beach (and its surroundings). Pagratios in Miliou village makes it so easy to combine the two as it is just 20 minutes from Latsi but still gives the feel of being in the woods. I have to admit that I expected it to be a bit better due to its excellent reputation. Nevertheless it was definitely above average.
The restaurant itself is quite small and cute and has thankfully kept its traditional vibe. The food is standard Cypriot with a few extra touches that make all the difference. One of those things was the bread, which was freshly baked and the tasty fries. The potato salad and the beetroot that came at the beginning were I thought, a bit unnecessary but the sausage and “halloumi” that followed were very good. My personal favourite were the stuffed “anthoi” (courgette flowers) that were excellent and the slow cooked rabbit that unfortunately is not so easy to find in a taverna. We also agreed that, even though some of the extras like the fried liver and the mushrooms with onions were average, the main meat dishes were truly of very high quality which you could easily tell from the taste and the texture of the meat.
Apart from the ambiance and the good meat, I also liked the friendly staff that looked like they created this restaurant because they genuinely love what they do and not because they want to rip-off people or because they had nothing better to do (which is the case for a lot of restaurants out there).
We all left satisfied despite a few comments here and there, especially for 25€ each with beers and a bottle of local white wine. Return? Yes.
