One of the most anticipated openings in the food and beverage sector of Limassol has finally opened its doors on one of the city’s most central streets. The word “brasserie” describes it perfectly in my opinion, as it offers everything a brasserie would offer: breakfast (pastries, cooked eggs and toast), light meals, wine and all day dining. Its cute French type décor is indeed a breath of fresh air.
I am generally not a fan of large cafes on a city’s central avenue as I think they are usually too crowded and quite pretentious. It might have been crowded but Milk Bar fortunately managed to keep a more casual and cool, yet classy ambiance. The large windows and high ceiling and the black and white tiles remind me of a New York brunch place. It also has a beautiful window with pastries and cakes at the bar or and simple bamboo chairs. Even though it is a casual brasserie the effort put into the “extras” was obvious: the cutlery was of the highest quality and so were the wine glasses. Even the bathrooms were decorated to perfection and made to fit the whole concept of the place.
The menu is simple yet broad. Apart from the breakfast and pastry choices one can enjoy a traditional American burger, a selection of sandwiches, salads or cooked meals. The chicken Ceasar salad that we shared was very good with a generous amount of bacon and tender chicken. I wouldn’t complain if it were slightly bigger however, especially since it was indeed a good salad. The mini burgers were also tasty, though I didn’t quite understand why there was a dish with four mini burgers and another dish with one big burger. Nevertheless in both burgers the meat was full of flavour with a good share of spices and tasty French Fries. Having seen the  pass by made me slightly jealous and created a reason for me to return, especially since brunch is not a meal served in a lot of places in Limassol. The verdict of our group of four was that it is one of the best new openings in the city and even though it might not be an extreme culinary experience the food is very good at fair prices with a very smartly designed menu (both in terms of content and aesthetics). Given that it is such a pretty place as well, it is a café/restaurant that will probably stay alive for a long long time.
