The latest opening, in the very popular Saripolou square is Kitchen Bar, a bar/restaurant, which fits perfectly with the relaxed and casual concept of the square. Even though this anticipated arrival is nothing extremely surprising or utterly different, it is a quite trendy and warm space appriopriate for any night of the week.
The handmade wooden tables, the long bar, the high ceilings and the industrial look create an inspiring space for people to have a drink. In fact, we went an hour before our scheduled dinner to enjoy a pre-dinner drink at the bar at Mr Proud Cypriot’s request. I also liked the fact that they have both high and low tables which makes this place good for large groups as well.
The food is international and admittedly, not surprising. The dishes included are international with a good selection of starters which are fantastic to share and a selection of salads, pasta and main dishes. Although the starters were well-priced at 4-6€ each, I found the main dishes to be a little bit overpriced. Any pasta (with the exception of lobster pasta) above 10€ is overpriced, and the same applies to salads. Despite the prices, my dish of salmon with rice with a lemon dressing was good with the salmon being fresh and flavoursome. The generously large pork chop was quite popular at our table (3 out of our 6 people group ordered it) even though taste-wise was average. The goat’s cheese salad, even though quite filling, had too much balsamic vinegar which made it a bit difficult to enjoy.
All in all, we had a very pleasant meal. We sat outside at a privileged position in the main alley off the square and watched the people pass by. I would gladly go again, not because of the food but because of the ambiance, location and youngish vibe.
