Seven opened its doors a few years ago, before all the Q lounges and the Littl
e Buddhas when we went there for our first visit our first thought how finally the bar/restaurant concept has arrived in Cyprus. Even though that must have been around 5 years ago, Seven Lounge has managed to establish itself and continue going strong after all these years.
I think that the most important reasons for its success are:
– Its location: central with a parking lot across the street but not on a busy avenue.
– The fact that it is open all day every day for coffee, drinks or food makes it an easy choice without having to think whether it will be open or not
– It has a large veranda with sofas and tables for dining as well as high tables satisfyi
ng all kinds of tastes and preferences depending on what you feel like
– The menu is long and comprehensive, a fact that I usually find annoying and unprofessional but in this case it totally fits the purpose of the place: an all day diner where you can have literally almost WHATEVER you want.
– It is owned by the same Cypriot owners since the beginning, people who are there almost all day, every day, giving “personal service” a different meaning
The truth is I usually go there for an afternoon coffee, lunch or early drink. I always sit outside as I love the comfortable sofas, I like the fact that the tables are not attached to each other making it a more quiet place with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The all-white décor with bright colours is simple, pretty and not overdone.
In terms of food, you can find pretty much any kind of international dish. I usually prefer small menus with a specific direction, but in this case I find that the long menu works well with the whole concept as it makes it a place where one can go to every day for lunch. Their burgers are a signature dish and their generously sized salads are perfect for a light lunch. The chicken tandouri I had last time I was there was surprisingly light and the hand-cut fries were indeed memorable. What is even better is their new lunch menu in which every single dish is below 6.50€ and almost all dishes are below 5€, including their standard salads, a large selection of sandwiches and pastas!
All-in-all it is a safe and easy choice with a stable quality and a good understanding of what works for the Nicosians.
