Brunching at Side B

Irinis 71, 99477887, LEMESOS (LIMASSOL)
Brunch is served only on Sundays
Indeed, the brunch craze continues. This time Limassol shows us how it’s done at Side B. I see it as a hidden gem, an Side B Limassolundiscovered garden of Eden. Situated in an old house in Limassol, Side B is more of a multi-functional space that hosts pop-up Sunday brunches “al fresco”.
Side B is all about the scenery. The old house is quite nice, but nothing compared to its back yard. What makes it so special I think is the fact that, when visiting Side B I certainly did not expect to see such a pretty little paradise. It is quite big but there are merely 10-15 tables making it quite cosy and reminding of a garden in the 70’s. I only went for brunch but apparently it is open all day for coffee and drinks, as well as operating as a gallery or exhibition space depending on what there is to exhibit.
The food? Quite good with a small but appropriate menu including a cake, a healthy granola option and of course, the egg selection. The 3-piece Spanish omelette selection that we shared was a very interesting addition with a potato omelette, a feta Side B Limassoland spinach one, and a red pepper and chorizo omelette. My eggs Benedict were also quite tasty, but not as memorable. The Big Breakfast which was basically a version of the good old English breakfast that Mr Proud Cypriot had was what you would expect, including  a nice addition of cubed fried potatoes. Thinking back we should have had the Indian style eggs with mango chutney and minted yoghurt, at least to try something different!
To cut the long story short, the food is quite good with some out-of-the-ordinary brunch dishes, but the reason to go is clearly the ambiance, which is something you don’t get often. It is time to take advantage of the all-year-round sunshine!
