The Daily Roast

Gerasimou Markora 16, LEFKOSIA (NICOSIA)
Mon-Sat 9:00-19:00
I am very happy our coffee culture moved away from the mass-production cafes where people gather in a large, impersonal space and have an instant coffee, to small spaces with an individual and special identity. I believe we have reached a point where, there are so many new openings that if you are not something different and if you do not offer a good quality product you are likely to fail. The Daily Roast, a relatively new cafe proves that attention to detail, knowledge and passion is needed to make something worthwhile.
Driving pass it one can immediately tell that something different is going on as the coffee roasting machine together with some old coffee ornaments used for decoration can be shown from the large window. Don’t be alarmed, the shop itself can appear larger than the typical local, coffee place but a lot of space is used to fit the funky, coffee-related decorative elements. Aris, the owner, is afterall a barrista trainer with his training studio on the 1st floor.
The Daily Roast NicosiaThere is an «antique» look to it but of course it’s been adapted to the 21st century. I did like the fact that there are only a few tables outside, and also the fact that it is quite spacious and fresh. As the main product is coffee, one can expect to get the highest quality. Apart from a very good espresso (and espresso based drinks such as a flat white, latte, freddo cappuccino and espresso, there is a very good filter coffee made out of the Hario V60 filter (apparently it’s famous). Coffee beans originate from among other places El Salvador, Brazil and Rwanda, roasted at the cafe itself and used within a week of roasting. All of that for 1.50-2.60€ (exept from the Iced Mocha that costs 3.00€).
The Daily Roast NicosiaIn addition to the fantastic coffee, the berry lemonade that I tried on that hot August afternoon was rather refreshing, while the home-made energy bars (a sort of flapjack) with oats, nuts and raisins was truly excellent with a semi-sweet, coconut-like flavour. As of beginning of September they will also be serving sandwiches during the day.
Also worth mentioning is the fact that you can buy coffee equipment and gadgets from the cafe, like grinder, filters and coffee beans.
If you love coffee, you are passionate about and appreciate good quality and attention to detail by someone who knows what they are doing The Daily Roast is worth a visit. Its quite central as (off Spyrou Kyprianou avenue) on a quiet yet accessible street.
