When I hear Four Seasons, seafood, terrace, sushi…bells ring in my head. Although I think Four Seasons is an overated and outdate hotel in terms décor I do believe they know how to make good food. This is why trying out the Vista seafood bar by the side of the terrace was a must.
I am having trouble expressing my self as far as this restaurant is concerned, probably because I have nothing bad to say, but I expected to be more impressed by it. If I was to start with the positive things: the dining-al fresco on a beautiful terrace by the sea makes a difference- that alone is worth a visit. Even if I was to have just a simple salad with a glass of wine I would be satisfied if I were to enjoy that ambiance. Service is also as polite as it gets.
What didn’t exactly do it for me was the sushi choice as it was small and too simple. I wasn’t after a long list of complicated maki but at least something more exiting than salmon and mayonnaise roll, or crab, steamed prawn and avocado. Don’t get me wrong, the fish quality was high, and I would go there every day for sashimi and nigiri (if I could afford it). When you go to Four Seasons, however, you expect to be stunned!
The Wasabi Crab roll with crab and avocado and Caterpillar Roll with crab, steamed prawn and avocado that we shared that came in pieces of 8 were quite tasty albeit simple. I much preferred the tuna and salmon sashimi that were, truly very good, as expected.
Perhaps we should have tried more appetizers and oysters from the Seafood Bar that included grilled Octopus salad with cauliflower puree, Crabmeat cannelloni and Carabinero prawns. We only had the Tuna Tartare from that list that was good in terms of quality but I would have preferred if it wasn’t served with forest fruit.
Despite not being impressed by the Sushi selection we enjoyed our meal and our wine on the beautiful terrace. For a moment I felt I was also on holiday in an exotic beach location.
We paid 120€ for a bottle of white wine worth 48€ (one of the cheapest on the menu!) and enough sushi and sashimi to feel fulfilled. The bottom line is: if you don’t mind the price, go to enjoy the beautiful setting, to drink good wine and to eat sashimi and oysters like there’s no tomorrow.
