How about a shop combining the art of photography with a cup of coffee? This one is very original, cosy and stylish and it’s called “Lomography Cyprus – Tria Poulakia Kathontan”.
A photography shop with a cafe in Larnaca.
The owner, Irene Stylianou, who is a photographer, is the exclusive representative of Lomography products in Cyprus, a very passionate woman who really loves and supports the art of film. That passion was exactly what lead her in opening this cute store in Larnaca, an old stoned building, with an impressive high ceiling.
My first question to her was of course, if film is indeed popular nowadays. She told me that some people are devoted fans and she has loyal customers who are really into film and Lomography in general. In the shop one can find other products and brands as well like Kodak, Fuji, Ilford, Agfa, Rollei, Bergger, Washi, Ferrania, The Impossible Project, Polaroid, annakoumoushi handmade accessories, Made in Cyprus souvenirs, Threedors Art Lab and others.
Later on she decided to upgrade the concept of the store, by offering drinks and snacks and she created a very cute space inside the shop with high tables and delicious homemade snacks like the mouthwatering banana bread, various platters, hot and cold beverages like the very tasty homemade lemonade and smoothies, beers and wine.
Wait, there’s more. Very often she organises reading events at the shop, stand – up comedy events and various exhibitions. The most recent one was the “Group Lomography Exhibition”, exhibiting photographs by Lomography supporters. She loves her customers and people who take photographs either professionally or as a hobby and she wanted to honour them in a way with a nice gathering, exhibiting their art. “The Lomo Trips” are also very popular, with all the Lomo fans gathering together and visiting a specific location for pictures and hanging out. If you are interested the next one will be a boat trip in July. Follow the FB page for more information.
A place that makes me feel Cypriot and Proud of young people who are passionate about what they do and they keep researching and coming up with new and fresh ideas. If you want to support small businesses, this one is worth it. Don’t just go to support small businesses, go because it’s worth it! And if you are not so much into photography, well… just enjoy a refreshing drink and have a piece of that homemade banana bread instead.
Did you go because you saw it on Cypriot and Proud? Don’t forget to let them know!
