Richardou & Verangeras, 99531280, LIMASSOL, Mon – Sun 11am – 12pm
Well, maybe I didn’t choose the right moment to go to this new spot in Limassol, weather-wise I mean. A very rainy night it was, but who cares if you are inside with good food and good company. “Meat Bar – Souvlakeri” is the new arrival near the Castle area, exactly opposite actually.
Me and the Proud Cypriot friend were in the mood for souvlaki or gyro. Yes, one of those days that I do love to eat my meat and I enjoy it.
What better timing then, than to try out this new place, serving exactly what we were craving.
The place is not too big and not too small, with a sitting area outside. Very white and very bright, with not much of a special decoration, rather very clean-cut, Greek minimal style, a combination of a fast-food kebab spot with restaurant elements.
We ordered two dishes, the Chicken burgers served with fries, tomatoes, onion, yogurt and Greek pita bread. The dish included three big burgers and a generous serving of the vegetables and pitta bread. I liked it, but I wanted just a bit more for the burgers. Maybe more spices, as I caught myself adding yogurt in almost every bite, to make them more flavourful. Nevertheless, both the burgers and fries were not greasy at all and not too heavy, something I really liked.
“Skepasti”, was the second dish with pork gyro and melted cheese inside and two slices of pita bread on top, served with fries. Both dishes were served in a silver tray, barbecue style, which was a nice touch. This dish was more tasty, a bit salty, but just enough. This was definitely more heavy on the stomach and fulfilling.
The two main dishes, two glasses of white wine and two small bottles of water, added up to €25 which I think is very reasonable, as we were both satisfied with the portion and quality.
I think there is space for improvement though, as the place is brand new so I will be back to taste their vegetarian dishes as well. I will aim for the Hallumi and Grilled Vegetables dish, the Greek Salad and Kritikos ntakos and I am very curious about the Meatbar Platter for two.
