Chilli con carne – 2 – ways

When we talk about winter we always talk about comfort food. When we talk about comfort food we refer to hearty, rich, warm, filling food, and chilli con carne falls right into those categories. I am not a big fan of spicy food but I do like spices and strong flavours… and Mexican food is just that.

Marks and Spencers are known for their good flavours and high quality ingredients, and this selection proves it. Furthermore, although I do like making everything from scratch sometimes you need to make a good dinner in 15 minutes. The below make 2 types of chilli con carne: the traditional one, served with rice and chilli con carne in tortillas. Extra salsa and extra fried beans are available for the ones who want to add more spice.

  • 1 M&S tin of Chilli con carne with British minced beef
  • 1 M&S pack of soft tortillas
  • 250g long grain rice (I used M&S USA rice which is great served with chilli)
  • 1 bunch of fresh coriander (cilantro)
  • drained yogurt or sour cream

Boil half the pack of rice with water and salt according to instructions. In the meantime warm the Chilli con carne for a few minutes without boiling, and warm the tortillas for 7-8 minutes at 180C.

When the rice and tortillas are ready serve the chilli con carne with fresh coriander leaves and a dollop of yogurt. READY!
